PING announces Cool Clubs as Regional Club Fitter of the Year

Greetings!

Cool Clubs CEO Mark Timms recently returned from Orlando where he spent the week at the PGA Merchandise Show. There, he met with leading club and shaft manufacturers and investigated the newest advancements in club fitting technology.

Timms was impressed with several items including new launch monitors, equipment for putter fitting, and high-speed video. The Cool Clubs staff is still researching the leading technologies to implement and bring to you, "but it won't be much longer" says Timms. Within the next few months, look to Cool Clubs for the newest fitting technologies available.

These new technologies aren't just fun for us to tinker with; they will save YOUR golf game. That's right...because now, more than ever, it's the fitting process that will give you those extra yards and the advantage over your fellow competitors.

As the USGA continues to put more limitations on golf equipment, the advantage in hitting the ball further or straighter is definitely going to come down to fitting. Golf club manufacturers will continue to release innovative new products, but with USGA limits on length, head volume, ball speed and grooves, there really isn't much more they can do to help you play better golf.

So how does this affect you? It means your best chance of winning the Club Championship or the Sunday afternoon skins game with friends is to get fit...and we don't mean hitting the gym! Because swings change every year, slight changes in your attack angle or speed can really change your launch parameters, and thus your perfect fit.

Cool Clubs is ready to fit (or re-fit) you this year and help you start playing better golf! Remember, it's through the fitting process-matching the correct equipment with your individual swing-that you will see real advancements in your game.

Fairways and Greens,

The Cool Clubs Staff

New Groove Rules

If you are at all confused about the USGA's recent groove policy changes, you're certainly not alone. The reality is that a very small number (less than 1%) of golfers will be impacted by the new rule before 2024. These players are:

1. Professional golfers competing at the highest level of competition (PGA TOUR, Nationwide TOUR,LPGA, etc.) and golfers planning to qualify for one of the three U.S. Open Championships were affected by the change on Jan. 1, 2010.
2. Elite amateurs who plan to compete for a spot in one of the various amateur national championships conducted by the USGA or the R&A will be impacted beginning in 2014.

Cool Clubs saw on average five PGA TOUR players a day in the month of December come in and ask about wedges and groove conformity. Even some of the top players in the world needed our help to clarify the rules and get their equipment ready for competition, so it's easy to believe that so many of us are confused on the policy changes.

The simple truth is that the majority of us can continue playing with our U-groove wedges until 2024. In fact, Cool Clubs CEO Mark Timms purchased for himself twelve 60-degree wedges and six 54-degree wedges because he doesn't want to run out. If amateurs are allowed to continue playing with the spin-friendly wedges, "Why wouldn't you?" Timms says. He jokingly suggested everyone go out and purchase U-groove wedges while you still can, because manufacturers have to get rid of their inventory by the end of 2010.

Cool Clubs is happy to clear up any confusion you may have, no matter what your skill level. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call or stop by one of our locations.

When did you first start going to Cool Clubs?

I first started going when they opened in 2007. Everyone is extremely helpful but Daemon the club builder has always helped me out the most. I started going there because that's where everybody went to get their stuff done-that was the place to go to get fit. I know I can always go in there and they'll help me out.

Did Cool Clubs help you get ready to go on the Big Break?

I went in there two days before I left for the show. I ordered some new clubs, went over to Cool Clubs and got them adjusted. I only had four hours of practice with them before I left but it seemed to work out alright.

What have your experiences been like when you go to Cool Clubs?

They always treat me very professionally. No matter who you are, they're going to treat you professionally, which is nice because they want your equipment to be up to standards so anyone can go out and play their best.

I go in there once every three to four weeks. There's stuff I need to get tweaked and they help make sure it's all in order. They have all my specs in their system so whenever I get new stuff I go in there and they match it all. If I ever need it, they take the time and put me on the machines and get me all straightened out.

With golf club manufacturing almost at a standstill, how important is getting fit?

I agree 100% with the fitting concept. I don't think there's much more the manufacturing companies can do with the drivers and the ball. The face can only be a certain size and thickness. The biggest thing I've noticed is all the golf shafts that are out there now. It's crazy that there's so much stuff out there, but none of it works unless you have the right stuff for your swing.
